We had a great day of reading today. It was fun to see and hear about the story characters the children chose to copy. Did your child/children share what they did today?
Many teachers took the time to dress up and read one of their favorite books to their students. Did you hear about any of them?
Reading to children is one of the greatest ways to share an adventure, build strong, happy memories, and improve reading and comprehension skills. I still have vivid memories of my mother reading to my siblings and I on the couch before bedtime. She often chose books that I would not have selected on my own, but she brought them alive and I loved it!
Why don't you try to bring this tradition into your family? If you don't already read to your children, start of small - maybe once or twice a week. Remember to enjoy the time together, it doesn't need to be about teaching them something.
It also doesn't matter what language you choose to use, it is about enjoying each other's company. I'd love to hear about some of the books you and your family read together.
