I hope you will use the resources on these pages to help you continue learning while we are away from school. You have all worked so hard this year, I hope you will continue that hard work from home.
I am available to answer questions, please send me an email if you need help with any of your assignments. [email protected]
**It is important that you spend time EVERY day reading, writing, listening, and having discussions (complete sentences in English). If you want to get better at something, you have to practice. That is true for everything from playing soccer or a musical instrument to reading and writing. Once you get better at it, it becomes enjoyable. Keep working, I want to hear all about what you read and do while we are away from each other.
-Grades 4 and 5, you will complete the reading/language arts assignments from Ms. Bentz. You should be receiving emails from her with further instructions. Here is a link to her webpage: http://bentzclass.weebly.com/digital-learning-day.html I have linked some additional review practice at the bottom of this page if you want or need more to do.
-If you are in kindergarten through grade 3, you should do the work assigned by your homeroom teacher first, the information on this page is to further enhance your learning.
-You should also spend 60 minutes per week using Imagine Learning (if you have been assigned to that) or iRead/Ready
-Post a picture and explanation of something you did each day on SeeSaw (you will find it on Classlink)
You can also email me with pictures, I'd love to hear directly from my students if possible.

This is a great time to practice sight words, these are words that are commonly found in many books. Many of these words do not follow the phonics rules they are learning, so it will help them read if they can recognize these. Start with the pre-K words and work your way up to the 3rd grade words. This web page has word lists and tips for learning the words.

Other Resources
-At the top of this page, click on more then Resources or Symbaloo
I will be updating and adding more links, so check back often.
Additional ideas:
1. Play a board or card game. If there are directions, have your child read the directions out loud with you and see if they can explain the rules.
2. Take a walk and have them tell you about what they see and hear. When you get home they can draw a picture and/or write a few sentences or paragraph about the experience.
3. Have them help you do some jobs around the house, do things together if you have time
4. Cook or bake together, great opportunity to practice reading and math.

SNOW DAYS
What should I do on a digital learning day?
Today is digital learning day! This probably means there's some snow outside, so take some time to play and have fun before it melts! When you are back in the house, there is some learning you need to do. There are two things I would like my ESOL students to do.
1) Spend 20 minutes on iRead or Imagine Learning. I sent information and instructions home earlier this year for students that are working on Imagine Learning. You can use the link below to find the apps on Launchpad. Please let me know if you need assistance. Their username is their lunch number and their password is their birthday.
https://launchpad.classlink.com/home
2) Students should read for 20 minutes. Refer to the bottom of the Resources page for a link to questions you can discuss.
If they don't have a book to read, use the following websites.
www.funbrain.com/books
www.storylineonline.net/
Mackinvia (link at top of Resources page)
3) If you can, definitely enjoy some fun family time! Here are a few ideas.

4) Write about one of the fun activities you enjoyed today. It an be short, but encourage your children to use complete sentences.
Please email me if you have any questions.
